:: BigFogg and Riley Motorsports Partner on new product enabling racing teams to stay cool during the heat of the races.

bigfogg-misting-canopy.jpg DAYTONA BEACH, FL (July 26, 2007) Big Fogg, the premier supplier of misting and heating systems to the NFL, NCAA Football, the PGA Tour and Motor Sports is introducing a new product line in conjunction with Riley-Matthews Motorsports to the racing market; an Inflatable Canopy with an integrated misting system.

Ken Swan, Team Manager of Riley-Matthews Motorsports states, “We were looking for a better canopy system than we currently use and turned to Big Fogg for a solution. We needed something that would cut down on set-up and breakdown time along with integrating the misters. Big Fogg developed the inflatable canopy with the integrated misting system for us. The canopy was at least 10 degrees cooler than our competitors neighboring canopies and we had not even turned on the misting system, with the misting on it would drop an additional 15 degrees.” The canopy made its debut at the Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL during the Porsche 250 event this past weekend.

The misting systems create a cool microclimate by using a ring of nozzles around the fans that emit very fine mist that quickly evaporates. This process cools the air by 20 to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The mist is emitted by pressures of up to 1,000 pounds per square inch. The high pressure makes the individual mist droplets smaller and thereby increases the efficiency of evaporation and cooling.

“The misting systems and our misting canopy will go a long way in keeping the race teams refreshed throughout the long, hot weekends they spend at the track,” states Ray Puglisi Big Fogg’s VP of Motorsports, “The teams use different systems to keep their driver cool throughout the race, our goal is to keep the rest of the team cool and refreshed during the long stretches they are out in the direct sun and heat, dressed in multiple layers, fire suits etc. By keeping their core body temperatures near normal levels they reduce the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.”

Blistering heat and humidity are not the only concern for both athletes and fans of any outdoor, non-air conditioned sports venue. Nowadays, exposure to UV rays is also a prime worry for participants of outside activities. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation’s web site, one of the best ways to prevent sun damage is to “seek shade, especially during the hours of 10 A.M. and 4P.M.” Canopies like Big Fogg’s create the ideal coverage from harmful UV rays. Although developed for racing teams, misting systems and canopies can be used in a wide variety of non-sports related situations such as hotels, restaurants, concerts and by event planners for corporate parties or even weddings.

“We at Big Fogg can create custom misting systems for just about any event or venue big or small,” states Puglisi, “we have been the industry leader in providing cooling and misting systems and the company that major associations such as the NFL rely on to protect their athletes.”
